Hiscox Case Benefits
Why buy a Hiscox Case
How are Hiscox guitar cases different?
A guitar case is essential for protecting your instrument from damage, and Hiscox has revolutionised how this protection is achieved. Unlike traditional guitar cases typically made of wood with external coverings or have an ABS shell with a polystyrene insert, Hiscox has developed a unique approach after a customer's guitar was damaged during travel in the late 1970s. This incident inspired founder Brynn Hiscox to create a groundbreaking case design that could endure significant pressure while remaining lightweight. After experimenting with various materials, he developed a signature composite construction that now protects over 700,000 instruments worldwide.
This led to the creation of their signature Triple Shield Technology, which protects guitars in ways conventional cases cannot.
Each case combines three essential protective elements: exceptional crush strength (withstanding 500kg), advanced shock absorption through our cellular structure, and thermal protection via our Thermo-Balance Engineering. Our cases are manufactured in the UK using high-grade ABS plastic (the same material used in LEGO), creating a water-resistant, UV-resistant, and virtually indestructible outer shell.
Which instrument makers use Hiscox cases?
How do Hiscox guitar cases protect against damage?
Our guitar cases utilise multiple protection layers:
1. The outer ABS shell is chemically bonded to the internal structure of the case which provides incredible impact resistance
2. Our unique polyurethane core contains thousands of gas-filled bubbles that absorb and dissipate shock
3. The aluminium rim and internal valance provides structural integrity and prevents hardware detachment
4. Strategically placed internal padding prevents instrument movement
5. Our anti-whiplash system protects vulnerable areas like the headstock
How do the guitar cases handle temperature changes?
Our Thermo-Balance Engineering incorporates several features:
- • Insulating gas-filled bubbles in the case structure
- • Temperature-resistant ABS exterior
- • Ivory-coloured cases remain 10°C (20°F) cooler than black cases indirect heat
- • The composite construction creates a stable internal environment
- • This thermal protection helps maintain instrument tuning and prevents wood stress
How do I choose the right size guitar case?
How do I maintain my Hiscox case?
Hiscox cases require minimal maintenance:
- • The ABS shell can be wiped clean with a damp cloth
- • The non-shedding interior doesn't require special cleaning
- • Hardware is nickel-plated steel, preventing rust
- • Regular checks of latches and hinges ensure optimal performance
